PLM Implemenation
There are many ways to implement a PLM system for your company. There is no one right way, but there are a lot of wrong ways. And what is right for someone else may not be right for you. One of the surest ways to get it wrong is to use the wrong consultants, or worse, no consultants.
You want consultants who can work with you. No one knows your business better than you do. But if you are implementing a new PLM, you probably don't know all of the ins and outs of the new system; its strengths and its weaknesses. That is knowledge that can only come from years of exposure to the tool. A good consultant knows the system, and can work with you to tailor it to your business. This requires a deep understanding of the tool, and at least a general knowledge of your industry. By working closely with you, the consultant learns your business, and can help guide you to the best way to an implementation that will serve you well for many years.
Our principals have been working with PLM systems for many years, and across many industries. We have seen both good and bad implementations, and have learned from all of them. We can help make sure your implementation is one of the good ones.
Data Conversion Services
One of the most misunderstood and underestimated aspects of a PLM implementation is converting your existing data into the new system. Whether you are doing a new PLM implementation, or acquiring a new business and absorbing its data, or expanding the scope of the current PLM; data conversion is a critical part of the job. Your data is your business.
Data conversion is a specialty. It is not something that should be left to your in house IT department. They must certainly be a vital part of the process, as should your user base. No one knows your data better that these groups. But they don't have the deep knowledge of the target environment to be able to really load it effectively. And it is rare that they have the special tools and techniques needed to do a migration efficiently. The average person working in an IT department may participate in one or two big conversions in a career. We have done many, many conversions ranging in size from small specialty companies to Fortune 100 operations.
And don't look to someone with ERP or financial data migration experience and expect them to be able to handle your PLM data. You need someone who understands PLM data, and how the data will be used in the finished environment. Ultimately, you want the migrated data to look like it has been in the new system for years. Ideally it is indistinguishable from native data. And the only way to do that is to know what the native data will look like, and how it will be used. We specialize in converting PLM data. We understand engineering data because we are engineers. And we understand the target systems because we have worked with them day in and day out for many years.
